What do you love about Whanganui?
It is a relaxing place to live. It takes just a few minutes to get from one side of town to the other and people here are friendly and helpful. While the coastline is not very picturesque, , the beaches offer some good surfcasting. There is good snapper fishing off these beaches. Wanganui is a great place for families and to bring up kids. It has all the facilities, schools and sporting venues that you need.
What does your business do better then anyone else?
Firstly we are fairly relaxed, so there is no high pressure selling. However, in a plain english, commonsense kind of way, we help people to recognise the risks they are exposed to.
The selling of insurance is more a by-product of our service, as we help people to protect their businesses and their families against the disaster sudden disability, the onset of a critical condition or premature death, can bring.
We also provide Companies with employee benefits, which help to reward valued staff. These packages help to attract and retain key staff, and can assist in reducing absenteeism due to illness.
Tell us about your team. Who does what?
Donna Jackson is the hub of our operation, it is her friendly voice that will likely greet you , when you call. Donna takes care of client servicing, administration and helps with prior approvals for medical claims.
Richard Turfrey (Turf) is the company director and trusted adviser to business owners and families. He is the adviser that helps you to recognise your risks and formulate plans to limit the impact these may have.
What’s your top tip for business success?
Have a plan for growth and development but also have a backstop. Make sure you have a contingency plan in place that protects the value of your business, after the years of hard work you put in, that’s got you where you are today.
